I've been leading or co-leading church music teams for over 40 years beginning playing for an early St. Louis Calvary Chapel, and then moving to a Covenant Evangelical church in Kirkwood, and now for KOGF. We are still a small church still but we love the Lord. Our team presently is made up of.....me! We sing mostly contemporary chorus' (Chris Tomlin, We the Kingdom, Lincoln Brewster, Hillsong) some songs you may recognize from Joy 99.1 FM. And we do mix these with older chorus favorites. We are informal and are presently acoustic, with a goal of never being over mid-level volume. We feel strongly that the volume of worship should not distract from the worship itself. (In our search for a church we found ourselves in the foyer of larger churches waiting for the overly loud music to end; and we understand this is not what worship is about.
We are presently looking for believers who would like to share their musical related gifts. In addition to being open to broadening our worship team, we also want to share the gospel in outreach concerts. We have played everything from more complex worship songs to DC Talk, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, Point of Grace and so on. If you are interested in potentially sharing a gift; please let me know; I'd love to talk! As part of this second piece, I do like to periodically gather musicians and vocals from different backgrounds/churches to share their gifts in performing special events and concerts. It is a blessing for us to break down denominational walls and unite musically as fellow believers to bless those who come to listen. We have prepared Christmas song sets in the past to perform in retirement community's, churches or community centers. When we gather some believer's together for a more full performance group, we'll look to do other outreach concerts as we are able. If you would like to be a part of a music group; please contact me via email. firstname.lastname@example.org. If you have a gift in music or sound, or you would like to learn one, we'd love to see if KOGF might be a good fit for you.
